Phalaenopsis Liu’s Triprince 'Pink' Peloric is a popular micro-miniature multiflora orchid hybrid known for its compact size, frequent blooming, and unique flower mutations. It is a cross between Phalaenopsis Eduardo Quisumbing and Phalaenopsis lobbii, inheriting a small leaf span that makes it ideal for growing under lights or in limited spaces.
Flower Characteristics
  • Color & Form: The flowers are a lovely pink, often accented with a contrasting red-fuchsia or "red grapefruit" lip. Color intensity can vary from pale to deep pink.
  • Peloric Structure: The "peloric" designation indicates a genetic mutation where the side petals partially or fully mimic the shape and color of the lip, sometimes creating a "three-lipped" appearance.
  • Size & Scent: This is a micro-miniature variety with small flowers (typically around 3cm). While some sources describe it as non-fragrant, others note a slight fragrance.
  • Blooming Habit: It is a multiflora type, meaning it produces multiple branching flower spikes that bloom frequently throughout the year.
Growth and Care
  • Light Requirements: Thrives in medium to bright indirect light. East- or west-facing windows are ideal, or it can be grown under artificial grow lights.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly when the potting medium is nearly dry (typically every 7–10 days). Because it lacks major water-storage organs, it should never dry out completely.
  • Temperature: Prefers warm to intermediate conditions, ideally between 65°F and 85°F (18°C–30°C). To initiate new flower spikes, a slight drop in night temperature (around 55°F) for two weeks in autumn is recommended.
  • Feeding: As a frequent bloomer, it requires regular fertilization to avoid "blooming to death". Use a balanced orchid fertilizer weakly every other watering.
  • Potting Medium: Most commonly grown in a mix of bark and sphagnum moss to provide both moisture retention and essential air circulation for the roots.7
Notable Cultivars
  • Phal. Liu's Triprince 'Pink': Standard pink variety known for its reliable multiflora blooming.
  • Phal. Liu's Triprince 'KF#9': An Award of Merit (AM/AOS) cultivar recognized for its exceptionally compact growth.
  • Phal. Liu's Triprince 'Peloric 2 eyes': A specific peloric variant often sold with distinct markings on the mutated petals.
