Cattleya amethystoglossa 'Jessica'
is a select cultivar of the bifoliate orchid species Cattleya amethystoglossa, highly valued by collectors for its classic "tipo" (typical) coloration and robust growth.
Distinguishing Features
  • Flowers: The 'Jessica' clone typically displays the classic color scheme of the species: pale pink to lavender sepals and petals heavily adorned with dark magenta or amethyst-colored spots. It features a characteristic bright magenta lip that partially wraps the column.
  • Fragrance: Like other C. amethystoglossa varieties, 'Jessica' produces a soft, sweet floral fragrance during its bloom.
  • Plant Structure: It is a large-growing bifoliate species with cane-like pseudobulbs that can reach heights of 2 to 3 feet. Mature plants produce terminal flower stems with 10 to 30 blooms.
Care and Cultivation
  • Light: This orchid requires very bright light to thrive and flower, often tolerating direct sun if introduced gradually. Lack of light will result in dark green leaves and a failure to bloom.
  • Temperature: It grows best in warm to intermediate conditions, typically with daytime temperatures between 70–85°F and night temperatures around 55–60°F.
  • Watering and Medium: It prefers a fast-draining medium, such as lava rock or coarse bark, and should dry out slightly between waterings. It is sensitive to standing water and needs excellent air circulation.
  • Repotting: This species is notoriously sensitive to being disturbed. Repotting should only be done when new roots are actively emerging from new growth to ensure the plant recovers quickly.
  • THESE PLANTS ARE BARE ROOT AS SHOWN , huge and  making new roots and growths .
