Cattleya amethystoglossa var. coerulea, 'Paiguas' this is a very rare hard to find high quality orchid ! This is a Collector's Cattleya species plant!

Cultivation of Catleya amethystoglossa is quite simple. It likes ventilation, humidity, as well as a lot of indirect light (that is, no sunlight directly on the plant) and environments with a temperature between 18 ° and 25 ° C.

If the temperature is not in this range, there may be inhibition of flowering and interference in the quality of the leaves and flowers. The color of the leaves indicates whether the light they receive is adequate or not. Very dark leaves are a sign of low light, which can compromise flowering.

Leaves that are too pale as a yellowish green indicate too much light. Always place the vase with the front of the orchid (where they have new shoots) facing the side that has the most light. They can be planted in substrates based on cubed coconut fiber, pine bark, crushed stone and sphagnum moss.

Grow in bright light and high humidity. Plant must dry out between waterings, but will dry quickly in the hotter months of the summer. Daily watering may be necessary in the summer, depending on the potting medium used.
