Phalaenopsis Lyndon Mix Zebra '821'
is a specific fragrant novelty hybrid orchid cultivar. It is part of a series of clones or seedlings from the cross between Phalaenopsis Lyndon Mixture and Phalaenopsis K.S. Super Zebra, which was registered with the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) by Lyndon Orch. in 2018.
Characteristics
  • Flowers: Typically produces wine-colored or magenta flowers with creamy green or yellow edges. The blooms are noted for having a "waxy" texture and high substance.
  • Fragrance: This hybrid is highly regarded for its sweet, often citrus-like fragrance.
  • Blooming Habit: It is a polychilos-type hybrid, meaning it can bloom almost year-round and often produces flowers on old spikes. Owners are advised not to cut old flower spikes unless they have turned brown and dried up, as they can re-flower.
Care Requirements
  • Light: Requires slightly higher light levels than standard "grocery store" Phalaenopsis, but still prefers bright, indirect light rather than direct midday sun.
  • Temperature: Thrives in intermediate to warm conditions. Unlike some other hybrids, it does not strictly require a significant temperature drop to initiate blooming.
  • Potting Media: Generally grown in a mix of orchid bark, sphagnum moss, or coconut husk chips to provide both moisture retention and excellent drainage.
  • Watering: Water approximately once a week, allowing the media to approach dryness before watering again.
  • MATURE FLOWERING SIZE, shipped IN SPIKE when available!
